I know that it is a strain of flu that is most dangerous to young children. I learned what I know from my mother who is a medical professional and the official informational notices that have been distributed about the subject and safety. I believe my child’s school and my mother got their information from the CDC.

I didn’t know anything about it when I first heard of it. I learned more about it from my child’s pediatrician. I believe I received information from the CDC at a later date explaining the importance of hand washing.

I know that it affects children, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems. I received information from my aunt who works for the CDC. Yes, I did receive electronic information from the CDC but I did not really pay close attention to the information.

My current knowledge is from having someone in my own household catch the flu. My nephew was diagnosed in early November 2009 after having a high fever and then no appetite, followed by a very lethargic disposition. He was given Tamiflu, and immediately my children were given the same preventative medication. I noted that it affected people with weaker immune systems including children or the elderly. I did not recall getting any information from the school, but my employer held a meeting with information from CDC.
